State Attorney Joseph T. Corradino announced on Monday, July 24 that a jury in Bridgeport Superior Court on Thursday, July 20, found David Shavers, age 28, of Norwalk, guilty of manslaughter and other crimes.

According to evidence at trial, Shavers, while driving on Sixth Street in Bridgeport on Thursday, August 24, 2017, fired multiple gunshots into a group of men.

Cadell Moore, age 34, of Bridgeport, who was working on his vehicle at the time of the shooting and was not an intended target, was hit in the head by gunfire and died, the evidence showed.

The shooting stemmed from a dispute Shavers had with a group of men days before the fatal shooting. The jury relied on eyewitness testimony and there was a substantial amount of video evidence tying the defendant to the vehicle used in the shooting, the DA's office said.

Shavers was also found guilty of:

  • Attempted assault
  • Criminal possession of a firearm
  • Commission of a felony with a firearm

He is scheduled for sentencing on Friday, Sept. 15.
